A wedding gift..

Hello All,

Few days back I got a mail from one of my dear old friends who was looking for a handmade frame / name board to gift to another friend of hers staying here in US. I was very happy and excited to be doing this for her. After discussing the requirements, I realized the product has to be mix of both... A picture and a name sign which can be displayed inside the house.

Since I haven't done a project with both these together, it was a challenge in itself. I tried few sketches and layouts and finally decided to do it on a canvas which would give it both, a depth and a distinction. Since it was a wedding gift, I decided to do with red color as a sign of love. Not as a base, but as a highlight of the project. Now for the base I had to choose between vintage look or a aqua soothing base. It was after some trials I decided to go with shades of blue.

As it was a project with in a project, I first decided to go with the picture. I used 2 canvases of 8x8 size with one having the image as foreground and other as a background (transferred the image on canvas). And for the base canvas I used mixed media techniques and gave a textured background using gel medium and Tim Holtz sprays. It took me a while to get the exact shade I was looking for but it worked. I painted the name letters and the heart in wine color. To maintain the balance, I used a quote on the second small canvas. Later embellished the project with some flowers and stick-ons. I loved the effect that came out on the heart. Here is a closer look of the project..

All my best wishes to the newly wed couple. Wishing them a beautiful happy married life ahead.. :)

For My Nest!

Hello All,

Its been few months now in this new place and it has started feeling good. It seems that basic setup at my house is up and I have almost everything I thought of. Recently I even bought a dining set which completes the major part of furniture shopping. But even with all these things, I was not getting a sense of completeness. Then I realised it was so, because of the empty walls. Hence my next project was to start doing something on this...

It would have been easy to go and buy frames or wall d├ęcor and put them on the wall. But I thought to use my time and do make something of my own. I wanted to use flowers, hanging around a base looking something like a bird house. I donno exactly how to put my thoughts in words, I simply started collecting whatever I could find with respect to my thoughts and here it is, how it turned out to be. Not exactly as I thought but I am happy with the outcome... ;)

I bought these pretty flowers from Michaels and this base basket from Ashley. Once I had completed the paint and flower arrangment around the basket, I made this canvas with the quote "When I saw You I fell in Love and You Smiled because you knew" to be kept inside it. Later I also added a small cage like candle holder. Few days later I replaced the quotation with the our picture inside. I think I will keep on changing that as and when I feel like..

There are few more projects I had started. Hope to finish them soon and share. I thank you all for stopping by. It means a lot!

Tvisha...

Frens,

For past few weeks, I have been busy buying my supplies and building my inventory again. Feeling is amazing to shop again :) I have started few projects but its taking time to complete them as I find one or the other thing missing in my stock. So meanwhile, I thought to share one of my old projects here.  This made me realize that there is too little shared on my blog because I was too lazy to pen down. But now I have decided to share as many as I can.  Here comes another name plate I did back in India.

This is done on wooden base with mdf alphabets. Since its for a pretty girl I decided with yellow and pink colors. Mulberry flowers and other paper flowers along with this fairy gives a beautiful projection to the layout. I later added a ribbon at the back to hang on the door. All the leaves are die cut and and embellishment with buttons and pearls later on.

Thank you for stopping by.

Love and Smiles :)
